Venus’ surface is 462 °C under 92 bar. But 50 km up the pressure is one atmosphere and the air sits near 30 °C. Breathable air floats there. We don’t land. We hang.
The clouds push back. Sulfur wisps, acid jellies, stingers and worse live in the deck we want — and every fifth level the Wraith Mother herself comes to look. Hold to rise, release to sink — the guns handle themselves. Every colonist you carry is one more soul on Venus; lifeboats carry four at once, and carry enough and the outpost becomes a city. Mars had its moment — and its freighters still run: supply drops bring hull, guns, a shield, a Mars escort fighter, a tractor beam or a flare that doubles everything for ten seconds. Clear a level with your hull intact and untouched and the bonus is yours. And when the V drifts by, far outside the band in the heat or the cold: that dive is worth it. One in five is golden.
